Robert Sanchez has had plenty of critics this season, but tonight he was key in making sure Chelsea got a point.
He was asked by Chelsea TV after the game to describe how it had been out there, and the word he chose described it perfectly:
“Difficult. Very difficult conditions with the wind and rain, and I think it’s a stadium that has always been hard to come to with any team. And to be honest I think Everton is one of the team with the most clean sheets in Europe, so I think in a team,” the stopper said.

“The important thing was to not lose the game and that’s what we did today. I think we just need to concentrate on the next one and go get three points.”
With Fulham and Ipswich up next, there’s certainly a good chance to make this right and get back on track with 6 points.

It was a “difficult” game to watch too. Everton did a great job slowing the game down and keeping Chelsea’s attacking players under wraps, which didn’t make for a thriller.
Still, the home side did manage to create some chances – luckily Sanchez was on hard to make the key stops and keep it at least as a draw. His form keeps improving, and if we can just get the attacking scoring at the same time as the defenders defending, we’ll be good.
Just because expectations has been raised by our recent good form, we shouldn’t forget that Enzo Maresca is still only halfway through his first season at the club, and that means there should still be plenty of improvement to come.
