Spartak Moscow striker Manfred Ugalde has come into the spotlight this season for his brilliant displays for his club. As per reports from TBR Football, the player been linked with potential moves to top Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
However, former Russia U-21 coach Igor Kolyanov is of the belief that Ugalde still has significant development ahead before being at the aforementioned clubs’ level. Speaking to Championat, he said,
“For me, Ugalde has not yet grown up at the level of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. He should finish the season at Spartak, and then we will see.

“In the long run, he may suit these clubs. But, now, he simply cannot handle it. If he suddenly moves there, he simply will not play. England is a very difficult championship.”
While his words may seem harsh, Kolyanov’s opinion serves a stark reminder that the perception of the Premier League as the world’s toughest league still persists. Lokomotiv Moscow’s former president Nikolay Naumov had another suggestion altogether, saying,
“Ugalde is a strong and skilled player, but I don’t think the English league suits him. He is not a very strong striker physically. The Spanish and Italian championships would suit Ugalde better.”
It remains to be seen what the player and his camp decide.

Manfred Ugalde has made a great start to the season for Spartak Moscow, racking up 15 goals and three assists in just 18 games in the Premier Liga. He has also scored one goal in the Russian Cup and has become their leading marksman despite being just 22 years old.
Standing at 5-foot-8, Manfred Ugalde is primarily a right-footed player who is agile, quick, and can score with both feet. His ability to run behind defences is great, but his physicality may fall short against the towering defenders of the Premier League, as Ugalde would be among the shortest strikers in the league if he joins.
Additionally, TBR’s report adds that he was struggling for game time with FC Twente just a few months ago, so clubs may try and avoid a knee-jerk deal for him.
