While Wolves won’t get carried away with the win over Leicester, fans took no time to serenade Pereira in the away end.

It’s been a long time since supporters were beaming with pride for their team, telling of the benefit of bringing the new manager in at this time.

It wasn’t only loyal fans who noticed an instant change but the players too, as Nelson Semedo explained after the game.

On BBC Match Of The Day 2, Semedo was asked by a reporter about ‘how much’ the squad were ‘able to work on’ in the days following Pereira’s arrival.

The newly-appointed Wolves captain’s response spoke volumes, as Semedo responded:

“Well a lot, to be honest, a lot. The group knew that we needed that, new energy, positive energy. We did it, it was a good day for us.”

Already, it’s become abundantly clear that the players have benefitted from Pereira’s arrival, with the performance on the pitch displaying such.

Wolves squad needed change from Gary O’Neil

Pereira played a formation identical to what was seen from Gary O’Neil however, the results were far better – which says a lot.

Semedo’s post-match comments echo this, as the captain suggested that the players welcomed the new manager as somewhat of a breath of fresh air at Compton.

Gone was the lack of confidence provided by the football played under O’Neil, as Wolves dominated Leicester in all areas of the pitch for the entirety of the match.

It was a statement win for Pereira on his debut, as Semedo’s words and the players’ actions made it clear just how essential change was at Wolves.
