Gary Neville has named Everton as a club that he wants to win a trophy.
The Blues have not won a competition since the FA Cup victory in 1995 and have already been eliminated from the EFL Cup.
Sean Dyche’s side start their FA Cup journey with a home contest against Peterborough United on 9 January, with Neville wanting the likes of Everton and Tottenham to get back to winning silverware.
Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast [22 December] about the EFL Cup semi-finals, he said: “I hope that Tottenham can get to a final and on the other side I hope that Newcastle can as well.
“I want these clubs, great clubs, the likes of Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Tottenham to win trophies.

“You want to see these teams win trophies if it is not your own team.”
New era can bring Everton trophies
The hope for Blues supporters is that the Friedkin Group will bring a new era of success to the Merseyside club as they move into their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.
The Toffees have been uncompetitive in recent seasons due to financial issues and poor recruitment decisions but that is likely to change under the new American owners.
The group has already tasted success in Italy with AS Roma and will hope to repeat it with their new club.

Under the ownership of the Friedkin’s, the Italian club hired Jose Mourinho and won the inaugural UEFA Conference League in 2022.
Europe is currently a long way off, with the Toffees sitting in 15th place in the Premier League but they have a favourable FA Cup third-round tie.
Progression in that clash could have Blues fans dreaming of crowning the final season at Goodison Park with a trophy in what would be a fitting end of an era.
