The West Ham United board are still standing firm on their decision to keep Julen Lopetegui at the club.
Julen Lopetegui was brought into the London Stadium to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham head coach in the summer, but that decision from the club owners is now looking like a poor one.
Just last week it was claimed that Lopetegui could be ‘sacked immediately’.
A run of five points from the games against Bournemouth, Brighton and Wolves have undoubtedly kept him in the job.
I’m really surprised he got the chance to prove himself in those matches though.

Lopetegui should have been long gone by then as far as I’m concerned.
So why is he still in the job? Well that question has now seemingly been answered.
West Ham board member’s excuse for not sacking Julen Lopetegui
The Hammers fans have been hugely frustrated this season with the lack of progress we’ve seen.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Lopetegui came in and made some bold promises, but it’s actions that count, not words.
The Spaniard has proven himself to be totally inept in the West Ham hot-seat.
How he is still in the job is baffling if you ask me. He obviously has one very high powered ally at the London Stadium though…
According to The Athletic, one unnamed board member fought very hard to keep Lopetegui at the London Stadium.
The reason for their reluctance to sack Lopetegui? Time constraints in terms of finding a replacement apparently.
What a pathetic excuse that is. There are plenty of free agent managers out there who would be attainable for the Hammers including the likes of Graham Potter, Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri.
It would surely be a fairly easy process to move Lopetegui on and bring in a replacement within a few days.

In my eyes, it’s pretty obvious why the Hammers board have not sacked Lopetegui yet, and that reason is a financial one.
The good news is that Julen Lopetegui was handed only a two-year deal at West Ham, so it shouldn’t be too expensive too sack him heading into the new year, relatively speaking anyway.
It’s painfully obvious to see that we’re heading nowhere fast under the 58-year-old former Wolves boss.
Sacking him is the correct decision. However, the West Ham board are clearly satisfied that we won’t be getting relegated this season.
It’s the lack of ambition that hurts me the most. Hopefully the Hammers owners prove me wrong and sack Lopetegui if we don’t get a bare minimum of three points from our next two games.
I won’t be holding my breath though.
