Another Newcastle player has made Team of the Week alongside Alexander Isak after stunning…

Only one other Newcastle United star made it into WhoScored’s Team of the Week alongside Alexander Isak.

There was no doubt that Alexander Isak would make the cut after scoring his first Premier League hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Isak wanted to score more against Ipswich but had to settle for three, which means he has now netted six times in his last four league clashes.

The Swedish striker was so impressive that Isak was applauded by Ipswich fans at Portman Road, while Kieran McKenna was also full of praise for his “high-level” performance after full-time.

With 23 Premier League goals across 2024, Isak could break Alan Shearer’s record with two games still to go this year.

Bruno Guimaraes joins Alexander Isak in Team of the Week

Several Newcastle players stepped up and performed brilliantly against Ipswich on the weekend but Isak stole the headlines.

Jacob Murphy continued his hot streak and added to his goal tally, while in midfield Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali were “superb”.

With the Premier League weekend now wrapped up, WhoScored have revealed their Team of the Week based on the best statistical performers across the division.

Isak not only features in the XI, but he recorded a “perfect” score of 10.00, making him the best performer in the Premier League this weekend.

He is joined in the lineup by captain Bruno Guimaraes, who stars in midfield with a rating of 8.53.

They added: “The Brazilian midfielder provided the assist for Alexander Isak’s second of the afternoon in first-half stoppage time, while he also made four key passes, three tackles and seven ball recoveries, on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.53.”

Bruno Guimaraes thriving in new role at Newcastle

After struggling to find the right balance in midfield this season, Howe made the decision to hand new roles to Tonali and Guimaraes.

Tonali has been “magnificent” in a deeper role, with the Italian able to control the tempo for Newcastle with his excellent passing.

Guimaraes has been pushed forward into a free-roaming role, and while he has received less praise than Tonali, he has also stepped up his performances since the switch.

Newcastle will desperately want to keep hold of their captain with Man City interested in Guimaraes ahead of January.

Not only is he a key player on the pitch, but his leadership and passion for the club away from the pitch is second to none.
