Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy named in Alan Shearer’s Team of the Week
Newcastle’s record goalscorer has now named his best XI from the weekend and it’s no surprise that both Isak and Murphy are included for a second week running.
There was no spot for any of Newcastle’s back line despite keeping Ipswich quiet all game.
Shearer heaped praise on Howe for moving Tonali into a deeper midfield position in a change that has allowed Bruno Guimaraes to roam free around the pitch.

Via the Premier League website, Shearer said about Murphy: “Another goal and an assist in an excellent afternoon for Newcastle.”
Shearer referred to Isak as “Hat-trick hero!”, and said he “Took all three of his goals so well and tore Ipswich apart.”
Newcastle players seemed to have listened to Shearer’s worries as it’s now three on the bounce in all competitions and through to the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Jacob Murphy’s form comes at the perfect time
Murphy’s goal and assist on Saturday add to the brace he scored in Newcastle’s win against Leicester, he’s now just two assists off equalling his highest tally in a season for the Magpies with over half the season to go.
Newcastle want a right winger in the January transfer window but with a difficult run of games coming up Howe will be pleased that Murphy has hit a purple patch now.
His form hasn’t gone unnoticed with Gary Lineker calling Murphy ‘underrated’.
Even if Newcastle sign Johan Bakayoko or Bryan Mbeumo, there will be confidence that Murphy can be an influential figure off the bench when needed.
With three important games against Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Murphy must perform at the high level fans have seen from him in recent games.
