A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was recently the subject of an offer by way of Premier League outfit Newcastle United.
That’s according to **[Diario Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/eric-garcia-verano-ahora-112846583)**, who point towards Eric García as the player in question.
Eric’s name has of course found its way firmly back into the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last couple of months.
This comes with the Spanish international, after a spell on the sidelines through injury, having found game-time largely difficult to come by.
In turn, it has been suggested by some sources that Eric could be on the move as soon as January.
As per the aforementioned Sport, this will not prove to be the case, with the former Manchester City man ready to battle for his place in Hansi Flick’s XI for the remainder of the campaign.
Next summer, however, the situation could prove to be an altogether different one.
And, in the case of a transfer being sought out, Eric will certainly not be short on suitors.
This comes amid confirmation that, over the summer, both Girona and Porto expressed a keen interest in landing the 23-year-old.
Not only that, but Newcastle United have made contact, too, going as far as to table an offer which the Barcelona brass felt was the most ‘interesting’.
With a permanent parting of ways between Eric and Barca looking increasingly likely next summer, it now simply remains to be seen where the versatile defender ends up.
