Everton fans are gearing up for the January transfer window – and Sean Dyche has today shared what he expects it to be like under the new owners.
The Friedkin Group completed their takeover of Everton last week, bringing an end to the reign of Farhad Moshiri.
Fans are hoping that TFG’s arrival will now help get the club back to where it needs to be, after years of fighting relegation and not challenging for European football.
The Friedkin Group are backing Dyche for the time being, which is probably a sensible decision given the club’s current league position.
It would be a gamble to make a managerial change now, and there’s a strong argument for Dyche being the right man to at least just keep Everton in the Premier League.
Dyche has just appeared at his press conference ahead of the game with Manchester City on Boxing Day – and was asked about what January could be like for Everton following the arrival of the new owners.

Fans can’t wait for the transfer window to open.
It’s been a tough old season so far, although Everton have done well defensively.

But currently, the club are just four points clear of the relegation zone and there is a feeling that the Toffees do need a couple of new faces through the door next month.
There’s always excitement for fans when new owners come into a football club.
But Dyche has played down the idea of Everton spending big under the Friedkins next month, suggesting it’ll be a sensible window.
He said (via Everton official): “The guidelines would suggest we haven’t got a situation where it’s just going to be endless money at every situation. That’s definitely not going to be the situation, but there’s no problem at the moment (with PSR), just to make that clear.”
When asked if he’s confident of getting players in in January, Dyche said: “I think it’s still going to be tough.
“The guidelines what the club are suggesting are still going to be… we’ve got to be quite guarded with the situation. It’s not going to be a case of you can throw money everywhere. That’s definitely not the case.
“I don’t think this group (TFG) are going to do that anyway. I think they’re going to try and build something, their words of stability, then added in the fact (of) rightly putting the club where it belongs in their eyes. But also the time needed.
“Certainly, that’s what they expressed to me.”
Everton’s January will be fascinating
All eyes will be on the Friedkins and the Everton recruitment team next month in the first window for the new owners.
It’ll be fascinating to see what happens, but clearly from these comments, we will not be seeing top stars coming in.
January is a hard window to operate in for all clubs, and right now, Everton will not be able to splash a huge amount of cash, with clubs looking to keep hold of their best players in the middle of the season.
But we’ll see what happens and what Kevin Thelwell – who is also being backed by The Friedkin Group – can deliver.
