Everton may be without Dwight McNeil due against Manchester City on Thursday, confirms Sean Dyche.

The Englishman also stated that James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam are still injured while Ashley Young, despite his fitness issues, cannot play as he’s suspended.

The Toffees travel to the Etihad Stadium on boxing day to take on the defending champions after getting a respectable draw against Chelsea.

Dyche said, via the Liverpool Echo: “Young is out anyway (suspended) but his neck injury should settle down quickly. McNeil might miss out with his knee injury. No Garner or Iroegbunam but they are making progress.”

Everton will back themselves to get a point against Manchester City

City have never looked this weak under Guardiola before as they’re currently in their worst run of form.

Barring the win against Nottingham Forest, they have struggled not just in terms of results, but also to be the all-conquering and dominant team they have been.

While the Toffees have their flaws, they have shown resilience against sides like Arsenal and Chelsea and a similar performance against City could see Dyche’s side get a positive result.

Of course, it’s going to be a tough place to go and Guardiola is not one to sit back and accept mediocrity so he will look for something different from his players.

However, if Everton can stay in the game for long periods and make things difficult for their opponents, things can certainly happen.

Hopefully, Dyche’s side continue to remain as compact as they’ve been in recent games and a point is surely there for the taking.
