Ibrahima Konate shows class to shut down Liverpool fan after Bukayo Saka injury comment

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate has taken the moral high ground, refusing to gloat over Bukayo Saka's injury despite some fans suggesting it was "karma" for an Arsenal supporter who had previously wished harm on Konate.

The French international defender suffered an injury in November during a Champions League victory over Real Madrid and hasn't played since, with Liverpool conceding eight goals in four games without him.

When Konate was injured, an Arsenal fan posted on social media hoping his injury was serious. That same fan expressed frustration when Saka was injured against Crystal Palace, leading a Liverpool fan to comment that "Karma is a b----."

Konate took the high road, though, replying: " However, Konate responded: "We are not like them..., we wish no harm, anyway In Sha Allah big 3 pts today." His comments were made before Liverpool's league match at Tottenham, which they won 6-3.

Konate's response earned him praise from fans, with one saying, "Bless your parents for raising you like this my bro," and another calling him "Class as always".

Joe Gomez again impressed alongside Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool's latest clash, despite Tottenham scoring three times, in a result that ultimately flattered the home side. The Reds' quality shone through as they increased their lead at the top of the table after Chelsea's stalemate at Goodison Park.

With a game in hand following the postponement of their Everton fixture, Arne Slot's men further solidified their position. "Of course, [being top at Christmas] means something because you always prefer to be where we are at the moment than to be in another position in the league table," remarked Slot post-match.

"You have to keep on going, keep on going. Every three days you have to be on top of your game, every minute of the game. That's why it is so hard to win it because it's not always easy to show up every three or four days."

Ahead lie challenges against Leicester City at Anfield and then West Ham away, as fans eagerly anticipate Ibrahima Konate's return, although Slot has yet to commit to a comeback date despite earlier confirmation of the defender's ongoing absence from training.
