Liverpool-linked defender Milos Kerkez has sent a message to Dominik Szoboszlai following his standout performance in their 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur. The Hungarian midfielder scored and provided an assist as the Reds moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has earned plaudits for his display in North London after coming in for criticism for some of his performances so far under Arne Slot. Kerkez, an international teammate of Szoboszlai, has been mooted as a possible target for Liverpool after focus shifted to the full-back department.

Andy Robertson's performances have come under scrutiny for aspects of his form this season, but made a strong return to the line-up on Sunday after serving a one-match suspension following his red card against Fulham.

Kerkez left a comment on Szoboszlai's Instagram which read: "Magic my bruder [brother]," after the Hungary captain posted: "Merry Xmas, Reds!"

The Liverpool midfielder turned out one of his finest displays since making the move from RB Leipzig last summer, however it wasn't enough to earn the Player of the Match award with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah leading the charge for the accolade.

Ultimately, the Colombian earned the award after his double. But speaking after the match, Szoboszlai wasn't sure if it was his best game for the Reds: "I don't know, I try to always do my best. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, I'm just putting effort on the pitch, I hope I can help the team all the time.

"I say to Ali at the end of the game, I'd rather play teams like this than who sit back. There's so space in behind them, especially when we have players behind and if we time it well, we'll have so many chances."
