Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other senior officials at Manchester United have given Ruben Amorim the freedom to determine Marcus Rashford’s future, according to the Times,
The decision backs up Amorim’s statement before yesterday’s clash with Bournemouth. He said that it has been his decision not to involve Rashford for the past three games.
Amorim has not selected Rashford for any fixture since the 2-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
There has been no evidence of any friction between the Portuguese tactician and the ‘unstoppable‘ star despite the latter’s continued absence.
Rashford’s absence has polarised United’s fanbase. Some fans have shown support for him, raising solidarity cards during yesterday’s clash with Bournemouth.
However, another section of fans expressed their displeasure towards him during the League Cup quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Amorim has not ruled out the possibility of involving the United academy graduate in Thursday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
INEOS’ decision to hand Rashford’s fate to Amorim could be an indication of what the upcoming transfer windows could look like.
The Portuguese manager may have a big role to play in their future business.
Former manager Erik ten Hag also had a big say in the recruitment of players. His involvement led to the signing of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt last summer.
It will not be surprising if Amorim is handed the same privilege.
