Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was on BBC 5 Live today looking back at the weekend’s fixtures, and he reserved a special mention for his old club Chelsea.
Like the rest of us he’s been really impressed with the Blues’ progress this season, and he even was pretty pleased with a draw yesterday against Everton at Goodison Park:

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as an England coach.
“Playing there in very difficult circumstances with the wind and the rain. Everton is always a difficult place to go no matter their position in the league,” Hasselbaink said.
“To keep a clean sheet [is good] – of course you also have to score goals but nevertheless, they have gone there and set out that they are not going to lose, they will leave with at least a point, and that is not a bad thing. Chelsea at the moment are feeling good and working really hard for each other.”

The ex-Chelsea striker also was impressed with how his old team were looking overall:
“Chelsea will feel [good about] how far they have come. To go to Everton having the expectation they will win and drawing, keeping a clean sheet and being disappointed shows that. If you analyse it at the beginning of the season and say ‘this is what Chelsea are going to do’ you would think there is no chance they would be where they are.”
The former striker is bang on – the very fact that we’re frustrated with a draw away at Goodison Park because it stopped us potentially being top at Christmas is a sign of the amazing progress we’ve made. Enzo Maresca said similar.
We have two very winnable games coming up – get 6 points from there and the 2 dropped yesterday will soon be forgotten.
