Rashford, who has been at his boyhood club for 20 years, has also been left out of the last three matchday squads by United.

And following the Red Devils' 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, Amorim has now questioned the advice given to Rashford from his team.

"But I understand that these kind of players have a lot of people around them, making some choices that is not the first idea from the player.

"So I understand and I can separate things.

"I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do.

"They chose to do the interview because it is not just Marcus. I understand that.

"For me, as a coach I just focus on the performance and the way you train.

During last week's Carabao Cup defeat at Tottenham, fans in the away section unveiled a banner, which read, 'Excuses. Ta Ra Marcus,' as they made their feelings clear.

And United legend Gary Neville believes Amorim will eventually grant Rashford his wish and allow him to leave for the sake of 'himself and the club'.

The Sky pundit remarked: "Something has to change at Manchester United.

"For ten years there's been a lot of the same players delivering the same results.

"We've talked about culture a number of times. If there's players who aren't quite fitting in, for one reason for another, if they've not got good enough quality, they've got to be let go.

"Ruben Amorim knows now, five managers before him have fallen.
