Huge blow for Chelsea star ahead of January transfer window

Chelsea’s bid to win the Premier League title was dealt a blow on Sunday as they were held to a goalless draw by Everton at Goodison Park.

Enzo Maresca’s side had won five league games on the bounce before their trip to Merseyside, but they were unable to find a winner against the Toffees and therefore had to settle for a point.

The result leaves the Blues second in the table, four points behind leaders Liverpool who also boast a game-in-hand over their title rivals.

It remains to be seen whether the upcoming January transfer window will be another busy one for Chelsea in terms of signings, but a number of first team players are set to depart the club.

One of those is full-back Ben Chilwell, but The Sun claims that the Englishman faces a further six months without football as he hasn’t attracted offers from any other clubs.

Chilwell has attracted interest from any other clubs

Chilwell, 28, has been almost entirely frozen out of the first team at Stamford Bridge since Maresca’s arrival over the summer, with his only senior appearance this term coming in the Carabao Cup against League Two side Barrow.

The 21-time England international is contracted to Chelsea until 2027, but Maresca has admitted recently that the left-back is keen to depart Stamford Bridge next month having fallen out of favour.

Chilwell joined the Blues from Leicester City in 2020 and has played more than 100 times for the club across all competitions.

He was part of Thomas Tuchel’s side that won the Champions League in 2021, but hasn’t even been named in a Premier League squad so far this term and wasn’t included in the Blues’ squad list for the Europa Conference League group phase.
