Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey has returned to full training at Bodymoor Heath.

The 23-year-old posted a series of pictures on Instagram of him in training with his teammates earlier today. It is unclear if he will be available to feature against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

He was the only first-team player who missed Villa's clash with Man City through injury last time out having been sidelined for the last six weeks due to a hamstring problem which he suffered in the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool before the November international break.

Leon Bailey returned to Villa's matchday squad to face City on Saturday and could feature for the first time on Thursday since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 over Southampton earlier this month.

Villa climbed above City after beating the Premier League champions 2-1 at Villa Park. After wins from Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, Villa moved to sixth place.

Opponents Newcastle are currently sitting in eighth position and are targeting a victory to leapfrog Villa in the table. Eddie Howe's side come into the match on the back of three successive league wins and beat Ipswich Town 4-0 at Portman Road on Saturday.

After facing Newcastle, Villa will host Brighton next Monday on December 30 before then entertaining Leicester City on Saturday, January 4.
