One of the main aims for FC Barcelona before entering the summer transfer window of 2025 is to make sure that no player in the squad is left with just one year on their contract.
As such, efforts are already being made to tie down players with contracts until 2026. Pedri and Gavi’s renewals seem to be secured already while Ronald Araujo’s determination to continue could make an extension a mere formality.
Inaki Pena is another player with whom Barça will soon begin renewal talks, after being impressed by his displays. The situation with Frenkie de Jong is very complicated and there is no progress.
No offer yet for Andreas Christensen
Another Barcelona player whose contract stands to expire in the summer of 2026 is defender Andreas Christensen.
However, according to SPORT, the Blaugrana have not made any contract renewal offer for the 28-year-old Dane.

That is not to say that an extension proposal will not be tabled at all, but it appears that the Catalans are taking things slow with the former Chelsea man.
It would be an understandable approach considering that Christensen has spent almost the entirety of the season on the treatment tables due to his persistent Achilles tendon issue.
Having resumed team training only recently, the centre-back is expected to be back in action next month.
But considering the plethora of central defenders at Hansi Flick’s disposal, not to forget the plans to acquire Jonathan Tah, and the lack of a renewal offer could suggest that Christensen’s future at Barcelona is uncertain.
It may also be the case of the club wanting to see how the Danish defender fares after his return from a troublesome injury before deciding on whether to offer him an extension or not.
Either way, as things stand, there has been no proposal sent to Christensen to renew his contract. Only time will tell whether that changes or not.
