Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has fired a warning to Arsenal and Chelsea after his former club beat Tottenham 6-3 to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Luis Díaz and Alexis Mac Allister gave the visitors an early 2-0 lead, leaving Tottenham on the back foot. James Maddison briefly reignited Spurs’ hopes with a well-taken goal, but Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s two-goal cushion just before the half-time whistle.
The second half saw Mohamed Salah steal the show with two goals in quick succession, taking Liverpool to a commanding 5-1 lead. Despite late efforts from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, which brought Spurs within striking distance, Díaz’s second goal sealed a comprehensive victory for the Reds.

Speaking onSky Sports, Jamie Carragher lauded Liverpool’s performance and issued a warning to their title rivals. “This was a massive win,” he said. “If you’re Arsenal or Chelsea watching that, you’re thinking, ‘This team will be hard to stop.’ It could have been even worse for Tottenham.”

Carragher also pointed to the tactical naivety of Spurs. “Arne Slot’s comments on Friday were telling. He wanted Spurs to stick to their usual style, and Liverpool exploited it fully. They could have scored ten.”

Mohamed Salah’s record-breaking contribution added another layer to Liverpool’s triumph. The Egyptian forward became the first player in Premier League history to record 10 goals and 10 assists before Christmas. “He’s a phenomenon,” Carragher added. “He’s probably among the top five players ever to wear the Liverpool shirt.”
Despite the win, Salah acknowledged areas for improvement. “We were strong offensively, but conceding three goals isn’t acceptable,” he said. “We need to be better as a team defensively. Tottenham’s intensity made it tough, but we’re happy with the result and will keep pushing forward.”
