Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City keen on 36-cap French international, handed boost in chase

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have received a boost in their pursuit of AC Milan star Theo Hernandez.

Theo Hernandez could end up parting ways with AC Milan in the near future. His future at the Italian club looks uncertain with his contract running out and a new deal nowhere in the picture. According to a report from TBR, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all keen on his signature and they have received a boost in their pursuit.

Things might not have worked out for Hernandez at Real Madrid but he has surely made the most out of his move to AC Milan. He joined the Italian giants back in the summer of 2019 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best full-backs in the world.

While he has been one of the mainstays of Milan in recent years, his future is up in the air with his contract running out in 18 months’ time. While the Serie A outfit expected the 27-year-old French international to put pen on paper to a new deal, things haven’t gone according to plan for them.

If they fail to convince him about signing a contract extension, Milan could be forced to listen to offers for him. While he has featured in 19 matches in the ongoing campaign and has even contributed towards four goals, Hernandez doesn’t have the best of relations with manager Paulo Fonseca.

He has found himself on the bench in recent fixtures and the French left-back might be on the verge of a move away from the club. With no progress made on a potential new contract, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all received a boost in their pursuit of the former Real Madrid star.

Hernandez could be heading to the Premier League

The Blues have been interested in the 27-year-old since early May. While they already have Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, the London club are looking further bolster the left side of their defence. Chilwell is not a part of their plans moving ahead and Hernandez could come in to compete with Cucurella for a place in the XI.

Arsenal were linked with him during the summer but there was nothing concrete about those reports as Milan were not keen on selling. But, with Milan’s stance likely to change with his contract running down, the North London club could enter the race.

As far as Manchester City are concerned, they do not have a natural left-back in their squad and are looking at Hernandez as an ideal fit to further bolster their defence. With contract renewal talks not going according to plan, all three Premier League outfits have been constantly notified about his situation. If they do sense an opportunity, they could launch an assault to sign him.
