Luis Diaz makes decision on Liverpool future amid Barcelona transfer interest

Liverpool's Luis Diaz is content with his current situation at Anfield, despite interest from Barcelona.

The winger has been instrumental in Liverpool's title challenge this season, netting seven times in the Premier League. Although he is contracted until 2027, there have been rumors about his future on Merseyside.

Despite discussions about a new deal, no agreement has been reached yet. As such, Diaz has been linked with a move to Spain since last summer, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid showing interest.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has been monitoring Diaz, who Liverpool values at around $82.7 million. Sporting director Deco is said to be an admirer of Diaz, but Sky Germany reports that the player is happy at Liverpool.

He reportedly feels 'very comfortable' at the club and has no plans to leave in January or at the end of the season. He also enjoys a 'very good relationship' with Reds manager Arne Slot.

The report concludes that Liverpool has not received any offers for Diaz from Barcelona or any other clubs, suggesting he will remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Barcelona may feel disappointed but it is rumored to have other targets lined up, with players like Nico Williams and Rafael Leao previously mentioned in connection with the club. Diaz recently shone for Liverpool against Tottenham, netting two goals and performing brilliantly as a makeshift center-forward, despite usually operating on the wing.

Before that game, Jurgen Slot lavished praise on the 27-year-old's versatility. "People said a week ago that Darwin Nunez's numbers aren't high enough but he has now got a goal and an assist," declared the boss of the Reds.

"Lucho can play in that position. He has done very well for us in that role. He has played more games as a winger but we know he can do it. Darwin and [Diogo] Jota are there, but Lucho is definitely an option."
