Despite the good level shown by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha this season, FC Barcelona are still looking to strengthen their forward line in the next summer transfer window.
This was already a priority for the Catalan club last summer, as they pursued the Athletic Club winger Nico Williams throughout the window, but were unable to do so and landed Dani Olmo to strengthen their forward line.
However, Nico is still on the radar of Barcelona, as the Blaugranes believe that a winger of his qualities is hard to find in the market. Meanwhile, the Catalans are also keeping their eyes on other possible options to reinforce the left wing.
But even if they decide to go forward with Nico’s incorporation, getting him will not really be easy. This is particularly the case as SPORT reports that the German giants Bayern Munich are also monitoring the Spanish winger’s situation.
The top Sporting hierarchy of the Bavarian club wants to strengthen their attack with one or two top-class wingers next summer, especially as several of their current players in these positions have quite uncertain futures. Sane, Gnabry, Coman, and Bryan Zaragoza are all not really settled at Bayern, and the Germans are already looking to replace these players.
In this context, Nico Williams fits quite well into their plans, especially as the €70m-rated Spaniard already shone in Germany while playing for Spain in the UEFA EURO 2024.
For now, the player is fully focused on his campaign with Athletic Club, with whom he dreams of playing in the Europa League final at the end of this season. However, Nico does not seem fully committed to Athletic Club beyond this season and has already been sending signals about a possible move in the next summer transfer window.
But the entry of Bayern Munich in this saga certainly makes it more interesting and it remains to be seen where Nico will be playing next season.
