VAR told they made a big blunder during Everton vs Chelsea

Another important point was secured on the weekend by Everton when they hosted Chelsea at Goodison Park.

Christmas has come early for Everton fans over the last week with the news of their takeover finally being confirmed.

The last three results will have done Sean Dyche’s position at the club no harm at all with a big win against Wolves followed up with draws against Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Friedkin Group have already brought change to Everton, with Dyche saying there is now stability at the club following Farhad Moshiri’s exit.

But the Toffees may feel slightly fortunate to have walked away from Sunday’s game with a point after a decision which may have gone in their favour.

Jordan Pickford let off by VAR in Everton vs Chelsea

It was not all positive for Everton with Dyche admitting Ashley Young had suffered an injury during the draw against Chelsea.

But former Premier League winger Shaun Wright-Phillips feels Jordan Pickford should count himself fortunate not to have been sent off on Sunday.

Speaking to Optus Sport, Wright-Phillips has insisted Pickford should have received a red card for his challenge on Malo Gusto inside the penalty area.

Pickford has been praised for his recent performances having kept Everton in the game against Arsenal at the Emirates.

However, there are now a number of people who feel Pickford could have been sent off against Chelsea with VAR coming under question.

Of course, many Everton fans will feel they are due a break with VAR following some of the decisions which went against them last season.

But Pickford may consider himself fortunate not to have connected with the Chelsea defender.

Pickford hasn’t learned after injuring Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk

Just a number of years ago, Pickford did similar as he rushed out to block a shot from Virgil van Dijk in the Merseyside Derby.

That time, the challenge was higher up and caused the defender some serious harm, but Pickford also got away with that one.

Pickford impressed Arsenal fans the other week in their goalless draw in north London.

However, this may be an area to his game which he may just have to reign in slightly with a number of pundits suggesting VAR should have gotten involved.

Sam Allardyce says Pickford is the first to admit his mistakes in the dressing room after a game, and this certainly could be one of those moments.
