Leicester City star excelled under Cooper, now he's Ruud van Nistelrooy's biggest headache -…

The realities of trying to keep Leicester City in the Premier League are beginning to hit home for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ruud van Nistelrooy had a superb start to life as Leicester City manager, beating West Ham United and drawing with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Dutchman was quickly and firmly brought back down to earth in the Foxes’ following Premier League outing, however.

He saw his side thumped 4-0 by Newcastle United earlier this month and their latest result was equally as embarrassing.

Leicester City lost 3-0 to Wolves on Sunday, dealing their survival chances a major blow.

The Midlands outfit are now 17th in the Premier League with just 14 points and will more than likely drop into the relegation zone before the month is out thanks to upcoming meetings with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Facundo Buonanotte causing Ruud van Nistelrooy problems at Leicester City

Van Nistelrooy has had to deal with a wave of injury and suspension problems in his last two games as manager.

But his decision to axe Facundo Buonanotte from the starting eleven against both Newcastle and Wolves is pretty bizarre.

The Argentine was head and shoulders above every other Leicester player under Steve Cooper and even scored as Van Nistelrooy watched on from the stands versus Brentford.

He then started the 3-1 win over the Hammers but was ineligible to play against his parent club in the following outing.

After missing out versus Brighton, he was expected to return in the following game but Leicester fans were baffled when Buoanotte was dropped vs Newcastle.

Van Nistelrooy was criticised by Foxes fans against Wolves as well after once more leaving the South American out of the starting lineup.

Exactly why the former striker is leaving Buonaotte out of the team is not known but with Ruud now already drawing the ire of the Leicester faithful due to his stance on the 20-year-old’s role in the team, he is quickly becoming the Dutchman’s biggest headache.

What has Ruud van Nistelrooy said about Facundo Buonanotte

Despite dropping him for Leicester’s most recent outings, Van Nistelrooy has already praised Buonaotte.

Speaking before the Newcastle defeat, the former PSV Eindhoven boss spoke of the attacking midfielder’s talent and his desire to improve him, as per Leicestershire Live.

He said: “We know the talent he has. He’ll be 20 in a couple of weeks. At such a young age, he made a move to Brighton and then to here, playing in the Premier League and making a great impression and being picked for the national team.

“You don’t get any presents in this profession. When you achieve that, you deserve it. It’s a great talent to work with. Every day we’re in, I will try to improve him, because he can learn a lot more.”

Leicester face Liverpool on Boxing Day and it’ll be interesting to see if Buonaotte is finally brought back into the team.
