Everton have had a thorn in their side for most of the 2024/25 season thanks to the poor form that their strikers have shown since the start of the campaign.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto are the main culprits of the equation with the duo often interchanging between who’s leading the Toffees’ attacking line.

While both have shown glimmers of promise, these performances have been too infrequent and have contributed to the Toffees’ position in the Premier League table.

So, looking back at the moves they made in the summer, it isn’t a surprise to see that Armando Broja was brought in from Chelsea to help offer additional support in attack.

Of course, the Albania international hasn’t yet been afforded much of a run in the team due to the injury he’s been nursing but now that he’s getting back to action, he could be vital to Everton’s survival.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

BBC Merseyside journalist Ian Kennedy summed up how Broja could become an important cog in Dyche’s machine.

“The return of Armando Broja will be a big boost. He just needs a run in the side now and will add to the Blues’ striking threat,” he wrote via the BBC Sport website (23 December).

“The Boxing Day game is fascinating. Everton will need all of that defensive solidity because, despite recent form, City are still a formidable threat – home or away.

“But, with the takeover now in place too, there is a feeling of stability again, which Sean Dyche’s side will hope they can feed off in the coming weeks.”

Armando Broja could be the man Everton have been looking for

Although the Chelsea loanee has only made a couple of cameo appearances for the Merseyside outfit at the moment, the quality he possesses is clear to see.

His speed on the ball and his keen eye for goal are just two aspects of his skillset that Sean Dyche could really put to use in his current set-up at Everton.

While Calvert-Lewin and Beto may still be a part of Dyche’s plans for the moment, if Broja can get himself in a purple patch of form, he could easily pip the aforementioned duo to a starting role.

Only time will tell is his loan move to the Toffees was worthwhile but at the moment, his inclusion into Everton’s team feels like their best chance of remaining in the top flight and avoiding another relegation battle.
