Man United transfer news: Red Devils handed attacker boost as Newcastle make 'reluctant' 24-year-old call

Newcastle United are 'reluctantly' prepared to part ways with Sandro Tonali next summer in a move that could have major benefits for Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Italy international's St James' Park career is yet to truly ignite after he was banned for 10 months for betting offences right at the start of his Magpies journey.

Tonali has since become a fundamental part of Eddie Howe's squad, playing the full 90 in the weekend's 4-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town, but he is yet to become an undisputed starter.

Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Joelinton and the fledgling Lewis Miley are all competing for minutes in Howe's midfield, and Tonali is already being linked with a return to his homeland.

Juventus have apparently shown an interest in bringing Tonali back to Serie A, and the Old Lady would supposedly be prepared to part ways with in-demand attacker Kenan Yildiz to raise the necessary funds.

Newcastle to consider selling 'unhappy' Tonali?

Both Man United and Chelsea have been strongly linked with an approach for Yildiz next year, and the Premier League giants have seemingly both been handed a major boost in their efforts to snap up the Turkish teenager.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle will 'reluctantly' open the floor to bids for Tonali next summer, as it has been claimed that the 24-year-old has struggled to settle at St James' Park.

Newcastle have reportedly ruled out selling the former AC Milan star in January, but Juventus have been told that a 'big offer' could bring Tonali to Turin during the summer transfer window.

Having supposedly been given encouragement by Newcastle, the Old Lady have an extra incentive to raise funds for a deal for Tonali, and the sale of Yildiz would be a surefire way to boost their coffers.

Why do Man United, Chelsea want Yildiz?

The newest jewel in the Juventus crown, Yildiz was on the books at Bayern Munich from 2012 to 2022 before jumping ship for the Bianconeri, and he is already an established regular at just 19 years of age.

The left-winger has contributed four goals and five assists in 24 matches in all competitions this season, including setting up Dusan Vlahovic's opener in Juve's 2-0 Champions League win over Manchester City.

Yildiz has predominantly played off the left this season, but he is also comfortable featuring as a second striker or number 10, meaning that he could be an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim's Man United system.

The Red Devils are expected to offload Marcus Rashford either in January or the summer after his bombshell interview, while Alejandro Garnacho is being lined up for a return to Spain.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have lost Mykhaylo Mudryk to a provisional suspension after the Ukrainian failed a doping test, but he was struggling for minutes anyway and could also be axed from the ranks in the near future.
