Manchester United face struggling Wolves in their final away game of the year on Thursday.
Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, their seventh defeat in 17 Premier League matches already this term.
Amorim, who took charge of United following Erik ten Hag’s sacking, will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways against a Wolves side that beat Leicester City 3-0 last time out.
Off the pitch, United are reportedly eyeing a move for a new goalkeeper.
As per Fichajes via GiveMeSport, the Manchester side are lining up a move for Borussia Dortmund ‘keeper Gregor Kobel.
The report from the Spanish outlet claims that the Red Devils are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper and have identified the 27-year-old as a potential target.
If they do land the Switzerland international, the report claims that current number one Andre Onana will be dropped to the bench.
Kobel is a target for Manchester United
Onana joined United last summer but has since come under scrutiny for a number of errors.
The report claims that United are therefore willing to splash out on a new ‘keeper, although Kobel won’t come cheap as Dortmund are set to demand a fee of around £58 million for the player.
Kobel joined Dortmund from fellow German side Stuttgart in 2021 and has since played more than 130 times for the club across all competitions, keeping 46 clean sheets.
His impressive displays last term helped Dortmund to reach the final of the Champions League, but Kobel’s form means his current side are reluctant to sell the ‘keeper and will therefore demand sizeable fee to allow him to leave.
It is claimed that Kobel’s consistency is seen as a key attribute for Amorim to build his side around, with United willing to splash out on the right player.
