Our Arsenal under-18s squad, head coach Adam Birchall and his staff paid a visit to The Arsenal Hub this week to meet people from our local community and deliver a wide array of food, toys and gifts to Islington Foodbank.
As part of their community engagement, the academy scholars took part in a variety of activities with programme participants of all ages.
They took part in team-building activities with our Coach Development Programme students, read stories with children in our Double Club reading programme, played bowls with older participants from our Health programme and joined in football sessions with our Football Plus participants. These sessions are supported by funding from the Premier League and the Professional Footballers’ Association.
Birchall said, “It’s amazing to see the players come and give back to the community, which does so much. We’re having an amazing time meeting new people and taking part in activities, and the players love it. This time of year is so important, and we have always felt as a club that it’s our duty as Arsenal players to give back to the community.”
Brian Matovu, Academy Club Link Officer, said, “It was a fantastic day. The participants were thrilled to meet our young players, who brought enthusiasm and energy to every session they joined. On behalf of everyone at Arsenal in the Community, we’re grateful for the time they gave up to visit us and for their generous donation to Islington Foodbank.”
