Jamal Musiala’s latest request to Bayern Munich could pave the way for Barcelona

It is already evident that FC Barcelona have a plan to improve the squad in the summer of 2025. However, even beyond that, there is always an indication that the Catalan giants will continue to monitor the most feasible and necessary targets. Evolution and development never stop at a club like Barcelona, and for good reason.

While the Catalan club is currently focused on acquiring targets that would be more feasible, luxury signings are something that can be considered once the finances have been sorted out as well. For now, Barcelona are much more attentive to low-cost signings that can be helpful from a sporting sense as well.

However, there are certain names in world football that strategies and plans are thrown out of the window for. Jamal Musiala is one such player, and his most recent request to Bayern Munich could signal that the German superstar could be open to a future move away from the club.

As highlighted by SPORT, the 21-year-old Bundesliga star has requested that Bayern includes a release clause in his new contract extension if he signs it. That, in turn, would mean that there would be an established price that would allow the player to join another side if that clause is met.

Moreover, negotiations over his contract renewal have other hurdles as well. The duration of his contract extension and the salary are both two major sticking points that need to be sorted out between the youngster and Bayern Munich. While the Bavarian club wants to seal the deal before January ends, there are negotiations that still need to be concluded.

With a contract in place until 2026 currently, Musiala would be entering the final year of his deal after this season. For Bayern Munich, his extension is a major priority that needs to be resolved as soon as possible, and the club is hoping to do just that.

However, in the event that his new contract does include a release clause or if he does not end up renewing after all, the likes of FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are more than willing to pounce. Already a world class superstar, his arrival would be a game-changer for any team in the world.

Furthermore, the player has also dropped hints towards Barcelona in recent weeks as well. In a recent interview, he even confessed that the team from Spain was his favorite club during his younger days:

“When I was a kid, I had several jerseys, and I always wore Messi’s. I had one from Neymar too, but Messi was my hero, my favorite player. Barça was my reference team, my favorite club. I had a Messi jersey. Their midfield with Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets fascinated me. I could watch their games over and over again.”
