“If something unbelievable is available and if the club is willing, we’ll have to consider it.”

That has led to suggestions that a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford could be considered.

The England international has declared that he is seeking a “new challenge”, leading some to put two and two together and claim that Arsenal should make an approach.

Rashford is not a target

Addressing the speculation, GiveMeSport claim that the United star is “not on course to be signed” by the Gunners during the January transfer window.

The website sasy that both Rashford and another reported target, Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, are not expected to make the switch to the Emirates next month.

It is believed that the club are not seeking a high-profile signing, with the emphasis being placed on someone who represents “good value” for money.

When could Arsenal have Saka back available?

Although Arteta refused to give an estimate on a return date, there are reports suggesting that the 23-year-old could be sidelined until late February to early March.

Saka is thought to have torn a hamstring and those types of injuries generally take between two and three months to recover from.

For that reason, Arteta’s comments that he is open to finding a replacement is not surprising but, from the looks of things, they won’t be attempting to recruit Rashford or someone of his ilk. Fans are likely to have differing reactions to that news.
