**Whoever it was that decided to give Troy Deeney a platform needs to take a long hard look in the mirror because the stuff he comes out with is unbelievable.**
The former Watford striker recently earned the ire of Newcastle United fans after spouting that same old rhetoric that we hear repeatedly from southern-based pundits about the North East not being a 'desirable' place to live and being too far from London.
Clearly, Deeney has never spent any time up here or had a look around the region at any point, and we'd love to know the fascination with London as if that's somehow the centre of the universe. Not everyone wants to live in a big, crowded, overpriced city, mate.
Anyway, watch the video below from our good friends at Ever More as Chris thoroughly puts Troy Deeney in his place (there is a bit of fruity language, so be aware).
Troy Deeney has joined the Alexander Isak belongs to Arsenal brigade
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Troy Deeney has now picked Alexander Isak in his [Team of the Week for the BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cy0np0pwql1o) and he lavishes the Swedish superstar with praise following his hat-trick against Ipswich and then immediately talks about him playing for Arsenal, again, as if it's their God-given right.
> **Alexander Isak (Newcastle):** "The best striker in English football currently. The one who, if Arsenal signed him, they would win the league and everyone else would be in trouble. But they won't do that because Newcastle need him and he is too important for them.
>
> "Newcastle need to spend more money in and around him though or else he will end up moving to one of the big, big clubs."
I should probably just let this Arsenal talk sail over my head but I can't
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously, this isn't as egregious as his slamming of an entire region based on his own personal preferences, but it's really winding me up, this entitlement, this narrative that puts Arsenal's name next to that of Isak regardless of the context.
We know that we need to improve the team around Isak, we're not stupid, but it's the way they talk about it as if Arsenal hold the deed to Isak's life and can just call him to the Emirates whenever they feel like it.
And as for the 'big, big club' statement - just wait, mate. Just wait.
