Man Utd suffer humiliating new Old Trafford problem as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham remain on top

Manchester United are working to tackle an infestation of mice at Old Trafford as the club's problems go from bad to worse.

The news, as reported by the Daily Mail, is the latest problem to hit the stadium and has seen the club’s food hygiene rating drop to two stars out of a possible five. The United hierarchy is currently exploring whether to redevelop Old Trafford or build a new stadium.

A club spokesperson told the Mail: “Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford. Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served. If incidences of this nature do occur at the stadium, immediate and appropriate action is taken.”

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said: “Our environmental health officers gave a food hygiene rating of two following a routine visit. We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure it complies with the rating and carries out the necessary improvements.”

It is the latest problem to hit Ruben Amorim's side, with the Red Devils currently 13th in the Premier League. Man Utd were well beaten by Bournemouth last time out and face Wolves next on Boxing Day. Old Trafford has also had a number of well-publicised leak problems, with water seen falling frm the roof into the stands and Amorim himself spotting water dripping from the ceiling inside the stadium during a recent press conference.

With a current food hygiene rating of two stars out of five, Old Trafford has fallen below expectations. The same cannot be said about Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, however. football.london checked the Food Standards Agency website and found Emirates Stadium, Stamford Bridge and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium all currently have a food hygiene rating of five, which is the highest mark possible. London Colney, Cobham and Hotspur Way training grounds also have a food hygiene rating of five.

It perhaps highlights the excellent facilities Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham boast at this current time. Man Utd need to improve in order to catch up with their Premier League rivals on and off the pitch.
