Barcelona offered chance to sign disgruntled €60 million Chelsea star

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Chelsea’s attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

Barcelona are constantly on the lookout for players who can further improve their squad. The Catalan giants are seeking more firepower in the final third of the pitch, and they could soon reignite their interest in the services of Christopher Nkunku.

The French international could part ways with Chelsea as he looks for a more prominent role elsewhere. According to Sport, Nkunku’s agent Pini Zahavi has already offered his client’s services to the Blaugrana.

The 27-year-old was at the peak of his power during his time at RB Leipzig. His incredible performances helped him secure a move to Chelsea, who forked out €60 million to prise him away from the Bundesliga outfit. The versatile star can feature on the left, as a number ten and a nine. He was expected to be the leader of their attack but spent the majority of his debut season on the sidelines because of injuries.

Nkunku was back fit prior to the start of the 2024/25 season but has not been a regular starter under new boss Enzo Maresca. Despite scoring 12 goals and bagging another four assists in just over 1,000 minutes of first-team action, the French international has found himself on the bench more often than not.

The French international has only started two Premier League games for the Blues and is frustrated by the lack of involvement. He is keen on parting ways with the club in search of more prominence, and his agent is already at work.

Nkunku could move to Barcelona

The 27-year-old could be heading to Barcelona. The Catalan giants have a long-standing interest in the versatile forward, and their sporting director Deco is believed to be a huge admirer of the Chelsea forward. They have been offered the chance to sign him as his agent Pini Zahavi has great connections with people at the Spanish club.

Zahavi could have a key role in a potential transfer to Camp Nou. The Frenchman has already put forward his Nkunku’s name on the table. The player is ready to adjust his wages to adapt the Barcelona’s economic limitations. While the Chelsea attacker is willing to do his bit, a transfer would still cost a fortune and given the kind of situation, the Blaugrana are in, it looks very unlikely.
