Aston Villa medical scheduled for first week of January – Villans shake hands on €8m deal

Aston Villa are close to finalising a deal for Kasımpaşa youngster Yasin Özcan, with a medical scheduled for the first week of January.

That’s [according to Fanatik](https://www.fanatik.com.tr/kasimpasa/yasin-ozcanin-yeni-takimi-belli-oldu-premier-lige-gidiyor-2567679), who say the 18-year-old’s performances over the last two years have now prompted Aston Villa to make their move.

According to them Kasımpaşa have reached an agreement with Aston Villa over an €8m transfer, with the two clubs having already ‘shook hands’ on the deal.

Özcan, who has 16 appearances for the Turkish side in the Super League this season with one assist to his name, is now set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa at the beginning of January. That has been booked in and scheduled for the youngster.

Aston Villa have moved to get him ahead of the competition, with Galatasaray trying in the summer but Besiktas and Fenerbahce also known to be admirers of him.

Whether Özcan, who predominantly plays as a centre-back but has featured at left back and in left midfield at times, is envisioned as an immediate option to strengthen Unai Emery’s first-team squad or one for the future isn’t mentioned.

Given the Spanish boss has shown a willingness to give youngsters a chance regardless of their age, it could be both. For now, the focus is on completing the deal, with a medical already planned as the next step in the process.
