Alexander Isak has reaffirmed his commitment to Newcastle United despite speculation linking him with a move away from St James' Park.

Isak has proven himself as one of the most consistent forwards in England over the past three seasons, scoring 41 goals in 67 league appearances.

The Swedish international delivered another standout performance for the Magpies last weekend, netting a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, which led his side to a 4-0 victory over the Tractor Boys.

Owing to his impressive form, the 25-year-old has garnered significant interest during his time at Newcastle and remains one of the most highly regarded strikers in Europe, fueling speculation about his future.

Isak downplays Arsenal, Chelsea transfer speculation

Isak, whose contract runs until 2028, is reported to have attracted interest from Premier League giants such as Arsenal and Chelsea in recent months.

However, the striker has now sought to downplay the rumours surrounding a potential exit, providing a clear message about his plans for the foreseeable future.

Speaking in an interview with local media, Isak explained, "Throughout my career, I have never commented on rumours during the season. There have been many such years where that (moving clubs) has been talked about."

He added: "It doesn't affect me. My situation at Newcastle? I have never had any problem there and I am fully focused on my task there, that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that and I have no thoughts about anything else.

"Much of what I read is not true. That is about all I can say about the whole thing."

The 25-year-old forward has already scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 15 Premier League matches for Newcastle this season, and currently sits fourth in the league's leading goal-scorer standings.

PSR remains a concern for the Magpies

Eddie Howe recently stated that the club has no intention of letting the 25-year-old leave, confirming that he remains part of their long-term plans.

However, the Magpies have faced challenges with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules in recent times, which are also expected to limit their spending once again in January.

To balance the books, Newcastle were compelled to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in the summer and may need to cash in on another asset to make further investments next summer, especially if they are unable to qualify for Europe.

This has fueled speculation that a substantial bid for Isak could prompt the club to sell, as it would provide the funds needed to maintain financial compliance and reinvest in their squad.

Newcastle United are in eighth place in the Premier League standings and will face Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day.
