Pep on Ederson, Nunes and Stones fitness

Pep Guardiola says he will make a decision on John Stones, Matheus Nunes and Ederson’s selection against Everton following our final two training sessions ahead of the Boxing Day encounter.

City welcome the Toffees to the Etihad Stadium on Thursday 26 December with kick-off set for 12:30 (UK).

Stones returned to the starting XI for our Premier League clash with Aston Villa but was brought off at half-time, with Guardiola admitting the defender had felt a disturbance as the break approached.

Ederson and Nunes, meanwhile, weren’t part of the squad at Villa Park and the boss said each will be assessed when the team trains this afternoon and Wednesday evening.

“I didn’t talk with the doctors but if he could not play the second half at Villa Park it is because he wasn’t ready. We’ll see,” the boss responded when asked about Stones’ condition.

On Ederson and Nunes, he added: “We train this afternoon and will see how many players we have available.

“At the moment, I don’t know.

“We train today and we train tomorrow night, and then we stay here and then play on Boxing Day.

“Tonight and tomorrow, they will be with their families. Tomorrow night they will be here. Hopefully they want to be here - it is our job.”
