Forgotten Arsenal man set to secure new loan–Manager’s endorsement sees new club move for deal

Forgotten Arsenal man Marquinhos appears to be set to join Cruzeiro, with a deal now done between the two sides.

That’s according to GE Globo, who report that Cruzeiro have secured the forward for 2025 as they continue to reinforce their squad.

The newspaper reports that the 21-year-old was considered a market opportunity by the Brazilian club, with him set to leave Fluminense and return to Arsenal in January.

He has been endorsed by manager Fernando Diniz, who he worked with in the first half of 2024 at Fluminense and would be happy to reunite with him.

The loan deal will run until the end of the year, with journalist Heverton Guimarães initially reporting the news but GE confirming it for themselves.

Marquinhos has been linked with several Brazilian clubs over the last few weeks as he is set to end his loan spell at Fluminense at the end of this month. He’s been a regular for them this season, with 29 games in total under his belt, but they have decided against signing him permanently and he is returning to Arsenal.

Now he’s set to move to Cruzeiro and link up with Diniz again, becoming their seventh signing already as they strengthen for 2025.
