How many games Romeo Lavia has missed through injury since £58m move to Chelsea

Romeo Lavia has sadly suffered another injury at Chelsea.

The Belgium international has only managed to make 11 appearances for Chelsea following his £58m move from Southampton back in August 2023 – mainly struggling with ankle and hamstring problems.

Despite that, the 20-year-old has battled back superbly well this season to deliver some impressive performances under Enzo Maresca, which have helped the Blues to second in the Premier League.

Romeo Lavia is currently out with a thigh issue which he suffered during the thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham, an injury that ruled him out of the 2-1 victory over Brentford and the 0-0 draw at Everton.

As the Belgian works on his comeback, let’s take a look at how many games he has actually missed since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Romeo Lavia has missed almost 50 games at Chelsea

The Brussels-born wonderkid is an elite talent, a prospect we feel could develop into one of the best midfielders in Europe within a few years.

If that is to happen – however – Chelsea must find a way to keep Lavia, who Jamie Carragher admires, out of the treatment room.

What Enzo Maresca has said about Romeo Lavia ahead of Boxing Day action

Maresca was asked about Lavia, who Dejan Kulusevski elbowed, during his press conference ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Fulham at Stamford Bridge, with Football London quoting the Italian as saying: “He is still recovering. It is much better but unfortunately he is not ready for the next game.”

There is – at least – a small positive to take for Chelsea fans there in hearing that the issue is “much better” than it was, while the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo can hold down the fort until he is ready thanks to the excellent squad depth at Stamford Bridge.
