Chelsea are doing really well under new boss Enzo Maresca. They are sitting on 2nd position in Premier League and are table toppers in Conference League. But, 3 of their stars need to be careful or else they might create problems for Maresca.
The Blues recently against Everton after 8 straight wins. Fortunately this did not affect their rankings. They are still 2 points above third placed Arsenal. Some key players missed the game against Everton which may have costed them 2 points.
What exactly can be the cause of worry for Chelsea?
As of now, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana have already received 3 yellow cards. In fact, Cucurella was shown two yellow cards against Brentford. But, due to getting red (second yellow), he has 6 yellow cards this season. Lastly, Pedro Neto has 5 yellow cards this season.
All of the above players have already served one game suspension for getting booked 5 times before matchday 19. Now, if they receive 10 yellow cards before matchday 32, they will be suspended for 2 games.
This means Cucurella and Fofana have to avoid getting booked 4 times and Neto has to avoid getting booked 5 times in the next 25 games. Otherwise, these players may miss some of the important games in the crucial period of the season.
All of these stars have been the main players for Maresca this season. Hence, them missing 2 straight games may destroy the rhythm of the club. Chelsea fans will hope that everything stays as the way it is now.
Besides these three, Jackson and Sanchez have both been booked 4 times this season. They too have to avoid getting booked in the next 2 games to avoid suspension. All of the records and stats related to yellow cards are according to FOTMOB.
