The latest on Mads Hermansen ahead of Liverpool vs Leicester City as Van Nistelrooy comments on …

Leicester City have a very tough meeting coming up against Liverpool on December 26th.

Liverpool head into the game having lost just one league match all season and are currently top of the Premier League table.

The Reds have scored the joint-most goals in the English top flight this season and could give Leicester City a real hiding if they are not careful.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has watched his side ship seven goals in their last two fixtures, with the Foxes now having the second-worst defensive record in the division behind only Wolverhampton Wanders.

There are plenty of reasons behind Leicester’s dismal defensive record this term, but losing number one goalkeeper Mads Hermansen to injury really hasn’t helped in their last two matches.

Mads Hermansen injury update before Liverpool vs Leicester City

The Dane had started all of the club’s league clashes this season and despite their shaky defensive record, was playing well.

However, Hermansen suffered a groin injury in the 4-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

He then sat out the loss to Wolves this past Sunday and fans are no doubt desperate to see him return on Thursday.

Van Nistelrooy shared a concerning Jamie Vardy update in his pre-match press conference on Christmas Eve, while also providing an update on Hermansen.

The Leicester boss suggested the keeper is perhaps not quite ready to return just yet, though Jakub Stolarczyk is now available, as per Leicestershire Live.

He said: “We’re assessing every day with Mads. Jakub is back and is fit and is available. We’ll make decisions.

“It’s about his development and how he improves [Mads]. We want him fit. But you can’t rush these things. We’ll see when he’s 100 per cent.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy on Danny Ward

With Stolarczyk now in contention to feature, Ruud will surely drop Danny Ward to the bench against Liverpool.

Leicester fans booed Ward during the clash with Wolves over the weekend and Van Nistelrooy has now commented on the Welshman in his pre-Liverpool presser.

He said: “What happened during the game, it was a tough one, because you feel for a team-mate.

“It’s support for him and being there for him, and staying together. We need to perform in a way that gives fans something to cheer.”

Ward has been pretty poor for some time now and if he does start between the sticks against Arne Slot’s high-scoring side, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Leicester ship at least four to five goals.
