Carlo Ancelotti has had a fabulous second spell in charge at Real Madrid, although rumours of his departure have never been far away. His future was under the microscope earlier this season, and with continual rumours of Xavi Alonso possibly heading to the Santiago Bernabeu, there is a chance that he leaves next summer.
Ancelotti is under contract until 2026, but Real Madrid may try to bring in Alonso at the end of the season. If that happens, AS Roma could move for the Italian as La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MD) have reported that they have him on a two-man managerial shortlist. Former Juventus head coach Max Allegri is the other name that Roma are considering as their manager for next season and beyond.
It has been expected that Ancelotti would retire from management when he leaves Real Madrid, although Roma clearly feel that he could be convinced to continue back in his homeland.
