Leeds United supporters no doubt suspected they had seen the last of Jack Harrison playing for the Whites after he opted to move on loan to Everton for the second successive season. That may change soon, however, with the talk on Merseyside being Harrison could have played his last game for the Toffees.
Under contract with Leeds until the summer of 2028 after agreeing a new five-year deal in April 2023, Harrison was out the door just a few months later after wanting to return to the Premier League following Leeds' relegation. Rather than sign the player on a permanent deal this summer, Everton again opted for a season-long loan deal.
That loan move has not gone so well. Some eyebrows were raised on Merseyside in the summer when Harrison returned to Goodison Park after registering just three goals and three assists in the 2023/24 campaign. So far this season he is yet to register a single goal contribution in 15 appearances, with many supporters calling for the player to be sent back to Leeds.
The 28-year-old remains committed to making it work at Everton this season, with the club have previously shown no signs of wanting to end their loan deal. There are some suggestions that could change under the new Everton ownership with plans for a January shake-up of the squad, but it still remains very unlikely Harrison would have his deal cut short given Everton's full season commitment, with Leeds also not in a position right now to match the Premier League wages of his contract.
It is increasingly likely Harrison will now be back at Elland Road at the end of the season as Leeds prepare for the return of a player who still has three years remaining on a contract signed back when they were a Premier League club.
