Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, while Leandro Trossard joined them in January 2023.
Raheem Sterling has not been able to live up to the expectations and naturally, he has struggled for regular game time; on the other hand, Leandro Trossard has been a solid performer since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion. There have been recent rumours that Sterling could return to his parent club Chelsea when the transfer window reopens in January.
As per Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal have decided not to let him leave midway through the season. They have decided to keep the play until the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Sterling can silence his critics with improved performances during the second half of the season and establish himself as a key player for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard has been linked with a move away from the North London club as well. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are keen on the Belgian international, but Arsenal have decided not to sell him midway through the season. It is understandable why Arsenal are keen to hold on to the attackers until the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are already lacking in depth in the attacking unit, and letting the two players leave would weaken them even further. In addition, star attacker Bukayo Saka is currently sidelined with a long-term injury, and he is set to miss several matches in the coming weeks. Arsenal will need their strength in depth in order to navigate the situation, and it will be interesting to see if Sterling can step up and make themselves count.
Can Sterling get back to his best?
The former Manchester City player has proven himself in the Premier League with multiple clubs, and there is no doubt that he could be a top-class player on his day. If he manages to discover his form and confidence, it could be a huge bonus for Arsenal, especially while Saka is ruled out.
Arsenal are currently fighting for the league title, and they are already behind the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. They cannot afford to falter at this stage of the season. They need their top players to step up and deliver consistently so that they can get back into the title race and win the competition. Sterling could be a key player for them if he manages to re-discover himself.
