Newcastle are favourites to secure the services of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori next month, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has spent the last four years in Italy but he has lost his place in the Rossoneri’s starting eleven and TEAMtalk claim that he is “open” to leaving the San Siro.
It is believed that Tomori is prioritising a move back to the Premier League and there is a chance that the switch could happen during the January transfer window.

TEAMtalk report that the Magpies are “best placed” to sign the former Chelsea player, with the club keen on reinforcing their options in the middle of defence.
Newcastle have been looking to add a centre-half since the summer
Manager Eddie Howe currently has Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Lloyd Kelly to call upon when it comes to centre-backs, with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles still on the sidelines.
A concerted effort was made to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace back in August but the player’s asking price ultimately proved to be too much.
Tomori is expected to cost a fraction of the fee needed for Guehi, with it being reported that Milan are prepared to sell for around €30m (£25m).
There will be some competition for Tomori
Juventus have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the England international but Tomori seems keen on a return to England.
While that does give Newcastle an advantage, it is likely that other Premier League teams will get involved. Both West Ham and Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in the player over the past few days.
From the sound of things, though, it appears Eddie Howe’s side will have a good chance of landing Tomori in January.
