The latest injury news and fitness updates for Spurs ahead of their upcoming clash with Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham Hotspur entered the Christmas break after a dramatic nine-goal showdown against Premier League leaders Liverpool. While it was a spectacle to be enjoyed by the neutrals, the home fans were left frustrated on the wrong end of the 6-3 scoreline. Despite previously enjoying a dominant 5-0 win over Southampton, Spurs fell victim to the latest result in Arne Slot’s title charge.
The new Liverpool manager is currently on track for his first title in his debut season, however, the 2024/25 campaign continues to churn out its surprise results. Chelsea have elbowed their way into second as the Reds’ closest rivals, while Manchester City have fallen significantly down the standings into seventh.
Since their stunning 4-0 victory over the reigning champions, Tottenham have won just one of their last five Premier League fixtures. Their Boxing Day challenge will be a visit to the City Ground to take on surprise packages Nottingham Forest. The Reds head into Christmas occupying fourth in the table, while Spurs are desperate to claw their way back into the top half of the table.
Like several other teams, Ange Postecoglou is dealing with a list of injuries. We’ve taken a look at the latest fitness updates and when each player could be back in action for Spurs.

Guglielmo Vicario
Guglielmo Vicario was ruled out for ‘months, not weeks’ after her heroically played an hour of football against Man City with a broken ankle. The ‘tough as nails’ shot-stopper has undergone surgery on the problem but there is no firm return date on the cards just yet.
“It’s going well. Typical Vic. He’s pushing every boundary. He’s still very much around the group… He’s progressing well,” Postecoglou said at the end of November.

Richarlison
Richarlison has not featured for Tottenham since Aston Villa and it will still be a little while until he is back in contention to play. As the Brazilian continues to recover from a hamstring problem, Postecoglou has said they are ‘hopeful he will be back in the New Year’ but they are not putting pressure on the situation.
Potential return date: January 2025
Ben Davies
Ben Davies was ruled out for an undisclosed period after he was forced off the pitch against Bournemouth earlier this month. The Wales international has been nursing a hamstring injury but it is ‘not as bad’ as initially expected.

Mikey Moore
Mikey Moore has been out since October due to illness and Postecoglou revealed last week that he needs some extra time befor ehe is back in contention to play.
“He hasn't been involved so we'll need to get a least a couple of weeks training into Mikey and get him back up to full speed. Hopefully he is not too far away,” the boss said.
Potential return date: January 2025
Micky van de Ven
“Van de Ven and Romero are both chugging along. I think both, to be fair, will be in the new year,” Postecoglou said last week on Micky van den Ven and Cristian Romero. The former returned from a hamstring injury with a surprise start against Chelsea but he felt ‘tightness’ during the clash and has not featured again since.
"It's not as significant an injury as it was last time with Micky but, with having the setback, the medical team is just going to make sure he is right to go so both will be [back] in the new year at some point.”
Potential return date: January 2025
Cristian Romero
Romero also picked up an injury against Chelsea and his return timeline is current uncertain, aside from the manager’s recent comments about being ‘back in the new year at some point’. This could mean January, or it could be later.
“He felt something in his quad,” Postecoglou said after the Chelsea defeat. “He trained really well. He wasn't the one I was worried about, to be honest, but it's just the way the season's going for us unfortunately. So we just have to wait and see.”
