Everton would represent a “great project” for Graham Potter if they sacked Sean Dyche, according to Robbie Earle.

The NBC Sports pundit was discussing Dyche’s future at Goodison Park in the aftermath of the Friedkin Group’s takeover when he floated Potter as a possible option for the Toffees.

He believes the out-of-work manager will thrive at the Merseyside-based club as he would not be under as much scrutiny as he was at Chelsea.

“Graham Potter, it could be a great project for somebody like him”, Earle said on NBC Sports’ The 2 Robbies Podcast (23 December).

“He will play better football. He’s not in the spotlight as he was at Chelsea, but it’s a big club and can compete at the right end of the table.”

Graham Potter available as Sean Dyche stays on at Everton

There has been a lot of talk about the Friedkins considering sacking Dyche to appoint a new manager of their own.

However, there are no signs to suggest that will actually be the case, with the former Burnley man leading the Toffees to a win and two draws in their last three games.

Therefore, Dyche does not appear to be under immediate pressure at Everton, although the new owners will not hesitate to take action if results are not satisfactory [TEAMtalk].

Potter’s availability will only make such a decision easier if it comes to it.

It would not be a surprise if Dan Friedkin considered hiring Potter, who has significant experience in English football.

The 49-year-old only has one trophy to his name – the Swedish Cup that he won with Ostersund in the 2016-17 season – but proved his tactical acumen during his stints with Swansea and Brighton.

In other Everton news, a European club have entered the race to sign this Toffees star ahead of January.
