Juventus are determined to add a defender early in the January window and, besides David Hancko and Antonio Silva, they have tested the waters for Axel Disasi, who’s not a fixture at Chelsea, Romeo Agresti reports.
The center-back was a starter in the past campaign. It hasn’t been the case with Enzo Maresca in the dugout. He has logged 14 appearances but just 4 in the Premier League, while he’s been a regular in the Conference League. He has amassed 1100 total minutes.
The situation has attracted a few suitors as Bayern Munich are monitoring Disasi too, on top of Juventus. Chelsea spent €45M to acquire him from Monaco in the summer of 2023. The Italian manager wishes to keep him because Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are currently injured. He’s under contract until 2029.
The 26-year-old began his career in the pros at Stade Reims and then spent three years in the Principality before being acquired by the Premier League giants. He has five caps with France. He hasn’t played with the national team since 2022.
Our Take on Juventus and Disasi
Things might not be as advanced with their top target if the Bianconeri continue to look around for options. It’ll probably be tough to convince Chelsea, but a couple of Italian teams have been very satisfied while signing their outcasts. They are right in looking for somebody spry and high-profile and not just a lackluster short-term fix. It’d help if they could add somebody in the first few days, as the wear and tear is starting to affect Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu.
