Chelsea are set to take on Fulham on the boxing day clash. Enzo Maresca just had the press conference ahed of clash. The Italian opened up about his take on Premier League title race.
The Blues are doing very well under new manager this season. Firstly, they are on 2nd position in Premier League which was not expected by anyone. In addition, they are table toppers and favourites to win the Conference League.
Chelsea boss and players have often being asked about the title race. All of them have responded by saying that they are not in title race. The West Londoners are loving this reply but it is being questioned by everyone else. Maresca has now explained the reason behind his thinking.
Chelsea boss Maresca on title race this season
Ahead of the Fulham clash, Maresca was once again being asked about title race. He answered the question in a very good manner. Fabrizio Romano has tweeted the reply from the Italian manager.
“We are not in the title race and it’s not about the pressure for the players, club or me. For me it’s the reality. We are ahead of our expectations in terms of the way we are playing and points. I hope one day soon we’ll have the title race pressure” – Maresca on his take about title race.
Maresca has pointed out some of very good points. Firstly, no one predicted that the Blues will be in such a good place so soon. Secondly, no one expected the Blues to win the Premier League title after the past few seasons which were full of struggles.
Lastly, the squad is still in process of building as Maresca has taken over only in this summer. Hence, going directly after title will only increase pressure which may result in disturbing the ongoing rhythm.
