Report: PSG make £50m move to sign elite attacker and West Ham have very easy decision to make

Jhon Duran should be a West Ham United player now.

West Ham botched a move to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in the summer, after the west Midlands outfit demanded north of £40 million for the striker.

We should have just paid what they wanted, it’s as simple as that.

At one point in the summer, it seemed for all the world that Duran would join West Ham from Villa, after he did the ‘crossed hammers’ sign during a live stream.

The Hammers stuck to their guns and refused to meet Villa’s demands.

That decision has cost us dearly this season, but the opportunity could still be there to bring the Colombian to the London Stadium.

West Ham have easy Jhon Duran decision to make

The Hammers should have signed Duran in the summer, there are no two ways about that.

We ended up with Niclas Fullkrug instead, and we all know how that turned out.

Now though, West Ham have to at least try to atone for that error.

According to a report from Area Napoli, PSG are eyeing up a move to sign Duran, 21, for around £50 million.

If he’s actually available for that fee, West Ham absolutely must go all out to sign him.

I know that PSG are better placed than the Hammers to win the race for Duran’s signature, but why shouldn’t we take a punt?

Who knows, Duran might actually want to stay in England, and if he joins Paris Saint-Germain, he will play second fiddle to Goncalo Ramos anyway.

The 21-year-old would be the main man at the London Stadium, and he’s exactly what we need in order to reach the next level.

Duran possesses blistering pace, has exceptional movement and is a lethal finisher, when presented with a goalscoring opportunity.

The Colombia international has scored 12 goals in 25 games for Villa this season, and he has been absolutely electric.

If there is any chance whatsoever of West Ham signing Jhon Duran in January, we need to at least try our best to make it happen.

Even if it means going toe to toe with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
