Everton prefer selling Beto in the January transfer window than letting him leave on a straight loan deal, according to Tuttosport.

The Turin-based newspaper reported via their website on 24 December that Torino want to sign the striker on a six-month loan after identifying them as their top target for January.

Sean Dyche’s side, though, are only willing to consider a straight transfer or at least a temporary deal which includes an obligation to make it permanent for £16.5million on top of a loan fee between £2.4-3.3m.

Torino technical director Davide Vagnati is hopeful of convincing the Toffees to change their stance, although an agreement could drag on till the end of January.

However, the transfer has not gone according to plan, with the centre-forward netting only seven goals in 49 appearances across all competitions so far.

It is evident that the Guinea-Bissau international does not have a significant place in Dyche’s plans as he has started just three games in all competitions this term.

With Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti back fit, Beto is likely to find playing time even harder to come by in the second half of the season.

Everton are seemingly keen to recoup a significant part of the money they spent on him last year, going by their demands to Torino.

However, it would not be a surprise if Kevin Thelwell agrees to a compromise as the Goodison Park outfit look to cut their losses on the former Udinese frontman.
